SERT may be called upon to handle "Crisis situations" as determined by the JAILER or his deignee. Outlined in this "Crisis situations" may include but are not limited to:

• Major Disturbances / Riots

• Hostage Situations

• Escape / Attempted Escape

• Cell Entry / Extruction

• Any civil disturbance in the community resulting in mass arrest

• Natural Disaster which present a security risk to facility

• Major fire which presents a security risk to facility

• Assist area law enforcement agencies

SERT Member must also meet specific objective criteria before joining the team: Both subjective and objective criteria required for SERT Qualification include:

• Physical Fitness

• Firearms Proficiency

• KY Dept of Correction Basic Correctional Emergency Response Team Training

• Riot Control

• OC

• Pepper ball

• Expandable Baton

• CQB Tactics
